Pimpri Chinchwad police have launched a probe after a 27-year-old woman alleged that three attackers chased her and threw chilli powder and alcohol on her private parts as she tried to hide in a public toilet and then inflicted injuries on her body with a razor blade.

Police said they have arrested a 31-year-old man who is said to have met the victim a few months ago through a social media platform and recently had a fallout with her in their relationship. An FIR has been registered at a police station within the Pimpri Chinchwad jurisdiction. It is alleged in the FIR that three attackers acted at the behest of the 31-year-old man, who has since been arrested by the police.

The inspector in charge of the police station said, “The FIR states that the woman was standing at a roadside stall after visiting a nearby temple around 11.30 am on Thursday. Three persons on a bike came near her and one of them signalled others to take out a sickle and attack her. Fearing for her life, the woman ran to a public toilet where the three assailants threw chilli powder and alcohol on her private parts. It is alleged that they tore off her clothes and inflicted injuries on her body with a razor blade. The FIR states that the attack was carried out at the behest of the 31-year-old man.”

The officer added, “We have arrested the 31-year-old man and are probing the allegations made in the FIR.”
