CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – True Gentleman Barbershop has moved to a new location off of 101st Airborne Division Parkway, offering cuts, shaves and a shot of Tennessee whiskey on the house.
Byrl “Dizzy” Hampe, retired military, opened True Gentleman along with his tattoo shop, Love Blood Ink, in 2012 on Fort Campbell Boulevard. “I felt there was a need for a decent tattoo studio. When I opened mine, there were only seven,” Hampe told Clarksville Now.
Hampe’s business moved in December to a new, larger location at 265 Stonecrossing Drive, in part due to the increasing traffic on Fort Campbell Boulevard.
“It just made sense to get off (Fort Campbell) Boulevard and come over here where it’s easier to get in and out for traffic purposes,” Hampe said. “It was just a really good location.”
The new shop is roughly triple the size of the original, allowing him to expand both his businesses. True Gentleman now has eight chairs, offering both walk-in and appointment services.
True Gentleman offers an array of services including but not limited classic haircuts, hot shaves, eyebrow shaping, ear and nose cleanings and black mask facials. They also offer their own line of hair and tattoo care products.
Hampe described his shop as having a “speakeasy” aesthetic. “It’s just really cool. The barbershop kind of looks like a barbershop and a tattoo studio melted together,” Hampe said
As an extra incentive to visit, the barbershop offers a complimentary shot of whiskey with every service. Customers can choose between classic Jack Daniels or Tennessee Honey.
For those with a bit finer taste, True Gentleman has a selection of “top shelf” whiskeys and bourbons for customers that invest in one of their branded shot glasses ($10 each), which you can bring back every visit.
Hampe told Clarksville Now that they also have free beer for “Thirsty Thursday.”
True Gentleman is open Tuesday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Love Blood Ink is open Tuesday-Sunday, noon-9 p.m.
